Highland Cow in the Snow - June, 2025
Back Story:
My only reason for attempting this drawing was that I liked the look of the photograph. It also gave me a break from using lots of different coloured pencils as this drawing has a very limited palette.
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create drawings with coloured pencils. The paper used for this drawing is Clairefontaine White Pastelmat Board, which has a harsh textured surface that requires multiple layers to be added to help fill and smooth the surface, giving the impression of the Highland Cow’s wiry hair. Check out the images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
