I chose to draw this Owl to help me hone the techniques of drawing feathers. I was also drawn to learn how to draw wood the Barn Owl was perched on.
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create drawings with coloured pencils. The surface I used for this drawing is Hahnemühle Nostalgie Paper, which has a smoother surface that takes fewer layers than I am used to. Check out the images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
