I chose to draw this Snow Leopard as I had been asked to draw a commission of a cat and wasn’t to sure about how to tackle the cat’s fur.
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create drawings with coloured pencils. The paper used for this drawing is Dark Grey Clairefontaine Pastelmat Board, which has a harsh textured surface which requires multiple layers to be added to help fill and smooth the surface to give the impression of the Snow Leopard’s fluffy fur. Check out the images images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
