I chose to draw this Black Pony as it was delivered as a masterclass using one pencil. I was also glad to learn some new subtraction methods on this surface.
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create this drawing. The paper used for this drawing is Clairefontaine White Pastelmat Board, which has a harsh textured surface that requires multiple layers to be added to help fill and smooth the surface to give the impression of the pony’s smooth hair.. Check out the images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
