I chose to draw this Hummingbird as it was an image that resonated with me..
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create drawings with coloured pencils. This drawing is on film as opposed to paper. Although the surface appears to be smooth it has a matt texture that can handle multiple layers and also can have detailed pencilwork added on both sides to enhance the artwork. Check out the images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
