How the Commission Process Works
1. Enquiry
Send me your idea along with any reference photos, preferred size, and any important details. I’ll review everything and get back to you within 1–2 working days.
2. Quote & Details
I’ll provide a clear quote based on size, detail, and materials. Once you’re happy to go ahead, we’ll confirm the timeline and any special requests.
3. Creation
I begin your artwork and keep you updated throughout the process. You’ll receive progress photos so you can see your piece coming to life.
4. Final Approval
When the artwork is complete, I’ll send you a final image for approval. Any small adjustments can be made at this stage.
5. Delivery
Your artwork is carefully packaged and posted securely. UK delivery is available, and collection can be arranged if preferred.
What I Need From You
To ensure I can give you an accurate quote and begin your artwork smoothly, please include:
Clear reference photos
Preferred size
Any deadlines (if applicable)
Any specific ideas, colours, or details you’d like included
The more information you can provide, the better I can tailor your artwork to your vision.
Why Commission a Piece?
Commissioning a piece of artwork is a way to create something truly personal and meaningful. Whether it’s a portrait of a loved one or pet, a favourite place, or a special memory, a bespoke artwork is made just for you and can’t be found anywhere else.
A commissioned piece can mark a milestone, celebrate a relationship, or simply bring joy to your home. It also supports an independent artist directly, and you’re involved in the creative process from the very beginning.
If you have an idea you’d love to see brought to life, I’d be delighted to discuss it with you.

Frequently Asked Questions?
Q1: How long does a commission take? This depends on the size and level of detail, as well as my current schedule. As a general guide, most commissions take between 2–6 weeks from the time we confirm your booking. If you have a specific deadline in mind, please mention it in your enquiry.
Q2: Do you require a deposit? Yes, I require a non‑refundable deposit of 25% once we’ve agreed on the details of your commission. This secures your place in my schedule and allows me to begin work on your piece. The remaining balance is typically due on completion, before a commission is posted.
Q3: What kind of reference photos do you need? Clear, well‑lit photos are best, ideally showing the subject’s true colours and details. If you’re unsure whether your photos will work, you’re very welcome to send a few options and I can advise which would be most suitable. You should only send photos you have taken yourself or that you have permission to use i.e. from a family member. Images copied from social media are generally not of high enough resolution so an original image is best. If using an image taken by a photographer, you will need to have written permission from the photographer which I will need to verify before I accept a commission for an artwork.
Q4: Can I request changes once you’ve started? I share progress updates during the process so you can see how your artwork is developing. Small adjustments are usually possible at certain stages, but major changes may affect the timescale or cost. I’ll always be honest and clear about what’s possible.
Q5: Do you ship commissions? Yes, I can post completed commissions within the UK. Each piece is carefully packaged to protect it in transit. If you’re local and would prefer to collect in person, we can arrange that too.
Q6: How do I get started? Send me an enquiry with your idea, reference photos, preferred size, and any deadlines. I’ll reply personally within 1–2 working days with more details and a quote.
Q7: Will my artwork be framed? Your artwork will not be framed. It will be mounted in a white mount with a backboard which will be placed within a pH-neutral, high-quality transparent sleeve before it is packaged and shipped.
Q8: How do I get started? Simply send me an enquiry with your idea, reference photos, preferred size, and any deadlines. I’ll reply personally within 1–2 working days with more details and a quote.
Q9: If I order a commission, who owns the copyright to the finished? Ace Artwork retain the copyright to the finished piece. You must obtain written permission from me if you wish to reproduce the art work for any purpose. You don’t require permission from me to share on social media platforms as long as you credit Ace Artwork.
Q10: Can I return a commissioned artwork? Commissioned and personalised artwork is created specifically for you, so it cannot be returned or refunded once completed. This includes any custom drawings, portraits, or made‑to‑order pieces. If your commission arrives damaged or faulty, please contact returns@aceartwork.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery and include clear photos of the issue. We will arrange a replacement or discuss the best solution.
Q11: Is there anything else I should be aware of? Yes, Ace Artwork has the right to use images of the finished artwork and/or images of the process of creating the artwork for the purpose of marketing.
