Horse Eye Study - June, 2024
Back Story:
I chose to draw this horse eye study to be able complete a drawing in one sitting, whilst learning some new techniques, whilst using a very limited palette.
Behind the scenes shows part of the layering process used to create drawings with coloured pencils. The paper used for this drawing is Clairefontaine White Pastelmat Paper, which has a harsh textured surface which requires multiple layers to be added to help fill and smooth the surface to give the impression of smooth skin and hair around the eye. Check out the four images below to see how I worked on each section of the drawing, building up each layer by layer before moving on to the next section.
